Wise Words of the Day

“There are more tears shed over answered prayers than over unanswered prayers.” -   St. Teresa of Avila quote

By Your Side by Tenth Avenue North

I have been hearing this song all day. This is one of those song that gives hope and strength to move on... By Your Side by Tenth Avenue North Why are you striving these days Why are you trying to earn grace Why are you crying Let me lift up your face Just don’t turn away Why are you looking for love Why are you still searching as if I’m not enough To where will you go child Tell me where will you run To where will you run Cause I’ll be by your side Wherever you fall In the dead of night  Whenever you call And please don’t fight These hands that are holding you My hands are holding you Look at these hands and my side They swallowed the grave on that night When I drank the world’s sin So I could carry you in And give you life I want to give you life Cause I, I love you I want you to know That I, I love you  I’LL NEVER LET YOU GO…

Twelve Unlikely Heroes: Book Review

Twelve Unlikely Heroes: How God Commissioned Unexpected People in the Bible and What He Wants to Do with You By John MacArthur Twelve Unlikely Heroes by John MacArthur provides short biography of 12 biblical characters: Enoch, Joseph, Miriam (Moses' sister), Gideon and Samson, Jonathan, Jonah, Esther, John the Baptist, James the brother of Jesus, and Mark and Onesimus.   Each character sketch is given and the lessons we learn is summarized. Though these twelve are called heroes, the Real Hero is God as the author rightly mentions.  It is easy and quick read. But also each character sketch acts as an start to conduct a in depth study. Each character had their own flaws but ultimately were used by God to fulfill His purposes.  A good book overall. (I’ve received this complimentary book from Thomas Nelson Publishing House through the Book Sneeze program in exchange for a review. A positive review was not required and the views expressed in my review are s

Empty promises: Book Review

I got a free copy of this book through BookSneeze.com. “Empty promises” by Pete Wilson is a small book with a big message.  It’s about the various empty promises that we look up to for our satisfaction. He speaks about the various internal idols that we create and worship. He defines Idols as “ idolatry is when I look to something that does not have God’s power to give me what only God has the power and authority to give”.  He explains that our heart is an Idol factor because we are wired to worship. Then he goes on to explain the different idols that we have created. The ultimate solution is that only God can truly satisfy us. I would highly recommend this book to all who are dissatisfied and disappointed with their life.

Remember to Forget!

The world wants people who could remember. As I was a student I was appreciated for my memory skills and scolded for my forgetfulness.  Though remembering is good, at times it becomes a problem. To love someone you need to selectively forget some of the wrong things they have done. In 1 Corinthians 13, we read “Love keeps no record of the wrongs…”  I have a notebook where I record blog ideas or sermon ideas that flashes in my mind.   If I don’t record I tend to forget all of them. We record so that it would help us remember our ideas.  Some keep record of all the wrong things people do to them. Though not in a notebook, they write it down in their heart.  Bible teaches us that one of the elements of Loving is not to keep records of the wrongs people do to us. My prayer today is to remember to forget the wrongs of people in my life because I want to practice Love. Love keeps no record of the wrongs….

Love Does: Book Review

It is a old axiom that one may do without loving but that is impossible to love without doing. This is the short yet powerful  message of Love Does written by Bob Goff. With unbelievable stories he proves that chapter after chapter that Loving is Doing. As in 1 John 3:18, let us not love with words and tongue but with actions...Bob tells us that Love is best expressed in action. This is such a refreshing book that will help us focus on doing things in other life. At the end of the book you even have Bob's number. You can call him and ask for yourselves if these stories are true. :)...I did and he spoke. wow. How cool is that. I would highly recommend this book. Your live will become an action packed one.

Book Review: Jesus, My Father, The CIA, and Me

Ian Cron is a beautiful storyteller. And as he tells his story it captivates you. Cron writes with humor, and honesty.   It is the story of a son longing to know he is loved by his father. It’s also a story about Jesus and what it means to be in relation to him. It’s a beautiful story that connects with us and helps us discover our story. I recommend this book. Jesus-My-Father-The-CIA
